If you want something doing properly... find the best person to do it.
When we started out, we grew everything on Home Farm. The problem is we’re only one farm, and we’re not set up to grow every kind of ingredient we need for our products. So, as we expanded and launched more products, we faced a difficult decision: how could we get everything we needed if we couldn’t grow it ourselves?
Rather than stay small, we saw growth as a way to spread our message and get more farmers and more producers involved.
How we work
All our products are made in the UK. Where possible we use organic, seasonal produce from the UK – all our meats and dairy ingredients are British, for example. Everything else we source as locally as we can from small farmers and producers. The aim is to preserve not just the environment but also the traditional skills that safeguard our heritage and provide valuable rural jobs.
Some of our key producers include:
Walkers Shortbread – the famous shortbread company who make our oaten biscuits.
Tracklements – the Wiltshire firm who hand-make our chutneys and preserves in traditional copper pots.
Denhay Farms – who dry cure our old fashioned-bacon in Dorset.
Wychwood Brewery – brew our award-winning ale in Oxfordshire
The Kelly family – who rear our Christmas Bronze turkeys in Essex.
